Huawei today announced that its HarmonyOS device ecosystem has more than 1.3 billion devices. From smartphones, tablets, PCs, to vehicles, data centers, and smart home appliances, the company’s self-made OS is a prime part of many products.
It’s June 12, the first day of the HDC 2026 event, where Huawei launched its all-new major software upgrade – HarmonyOS 7.0 for developers in the beta format.
The Chinese tech giant has also announced some important news related to the new software version, achievements in the past year, and strategies for future goals.
Richard Yu, the Chairman of the Huawei Consumer Business Unit, revealed that the Huawei HarmonyOS device ecosystem has crossed 1.3 billion devices to date.

Open-source HarmonyOS has become the digital foundation for thousands of industries, featuring more than 13,000 code contributors, 140+ million lines of code, and over 3200 ecosystem partners. Over time, these figures will continue to increase.
The Chinese OEM also shared products that are running on HarmonyOS. It listed Electricity HarmonyOS, Industrial HarmonyOS, Water HarmonyOS, Mobile HarmonyOS, and more, suggesting that its self-made OS is being used almost everywhere.
Following the US export regulations, Huawei chose the “self-reliant” path and started developing its own solutions for every segment – from consumer devices to commercial ones. The tech giant now aims for global expansion of HarmonyOS.
Though when this idea turns into an action is worth looking forward to!
