Huawei obtained momentum in chip field, it’ll only get better: He Tingbo


Huawei has started gaining momentum in the chip field, and it will only get better day by day and year by year – said He Tingbo, the Director of the Huawei Scientist Committee and the President of its Semiconductor Business Group Unit.

Following the keynote at the ISCAS 2026 event, He Tingbo gave an interview at People’s Daily, a Chinese media outlet. During the interrogation, she stated why it was important to switch to a different approach instead of going through the same lane.

Tingbo mentioned that Moore’s Law-based chip technologies will encounter a very heavy physical boundary wall. And Huawei has already undergone this challenge in 2020, when the US sanctioned the company over cutting-edge chip tech solutions.

Moore’s Law focuses on geometric scaling and continues to work on the size of the transistor. But since the company faced some issues with this principle, it turned to temporal miniaturization – the Tau Scaling Law.

After six years of practice, Huawei developed more than 300 chips based on the Tau Scaling Law. It covered Kirin, Ascend, and Kunpeng chips in this segment for general and AI computing. And now, it has returned to customers’ attention.

He Tingbo said that Huawei has now gained momentum in the chip field and there is no way back. It will continue to walk on the road of victory. She added:

“There is no way back, only the road to victory. Huawei will not stagnate, but rather accelerate. The company’s acceleration over the next four, five, or ten years is entirely comparable to the other path, and it will not drift further away from becoming a top-tier company; it will only get better and better.”
