Huawei records smartphone sales jump globally in 2Q26: Counterpoint


Huawei smartphone sales are making gradual progress globally, and in 2Q26, the company witnessed significant growth. While the Chinese company didn’t make it into the top five on the list, it saw a sharp year-over-year increase in shipments.

Counterpoint has released its analysis of the 2Q26 global smartphone sales market, in which Samsung reclaimed the top spot, with Apple following closely.

Samsung holds 24% of the market share in the second quarter of this year, with the strongest growth among its competitors – special thanks to the Galaxy S26 Ultra that appeared as a “standout performer” in the market due to AI and Privacy Display.

Apple grew 3% and achieved 20% of the market share, driven by the sustained momentum of the iPhone 17 series. Other rankers in the top five list include Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo, with a slight decline in their sales share over the last year, same period.

Huawei appears in the top 10 smartphone sales rankers list globally in 2Q26, with a 6% year-on-year increase in shipments. The company is witnessing constant growth, mainly due to its strong presence in the Chinese phone market.

From the flagship Mate 80 series to mid-rangers like Nova 15 and the pocket-friendly Enjoy 90, the company’s smartphones are selling well. Huawei has made prominent changes to its creations over the years, which have made it rise steadily in the market.

Counterpoint said:

“Google and Huawei witnessed significant shipment growth in Q2 2026, rising 16% and 6% YoY, respectively. […] Huawei’s growth was supported by the Mate 80 series, Nova 15, and the newly launched Enjoy 90 series.”

The overall global smartphone sales market experienced a drop of 11% YoY in the second quarter of this year, following the intense shortage of NAND and DRAM chips.

As per the report, the shipments will continue to decline and hit a 14% drop mark for the entire year as the global memory shortage may persist till 2027.
