Huawei has reported the Wi-Fi 7 patent licensing price at the IPBC Global 2026 event. The company set the rate at $.05 per unit for compatible devices and products, implying a new approach to promote technological innovation across the globe.
The company announced the Huawei Wi-Fi 7 tech patent licensing price for a more advanced and interconnected ecosystem. According to the OEM, the new rate is fair and transparent to customers.
During the IPBC Global event, Huawei stated that it holds one of the largest portfolios of declared essential Wi-Fi 7 patents. Over 10 years, the firm has been investing in research and substantial resources to develop a true next-gen Wi-Fi 7 tech.
Wi-Fi 7 is the latest Wi-Fi tech version that promises higher throughput and greater reliability over the previous generations. It’s not just a connectivity upgrade but a door that unlocks new possibilities between people and smart system interactions.
In addition, Wi-Fi 7 will act as the foundation for the digital transformation with lower latency. And Huawei aims to further enhance this tech with its own solution.
The company offers a clear and advanced notice of its Wi-Fi royalty rate – US $0.5 per unit for consumer-grade Wi-Fi 7 products. Clients can obtain licenses either via bilateral agreements or via patent pools, on FRAND (Fair, Reasonable, and Non-discriminatory) terms.
Huawei also has a strong hold of the Wi-Fi 6 patent portfolio with widely recognized licenses across the industry. The company even expanded its participation to the Sisvel Wi-Fi Multimode pool, providing licenses and a streamlined platform to access its Wi-Fi solutions. Alan Fan, Huawei’s Chief Intellectual Property Officer, said:
“Through these initiatives, Huawei continues to facilitate collaborative licensing models that balance the interests of innovators and implementers, further reinforcing its leadership in shaping a transparent and efficient global Wi-Fi licensing environment.”
