Huawei shows how Kirin 2026 chip can differ from Kirin 9030 Pro

Huawei is developing Kirin 2026 chip, and ahead of its official debut with the Mate 90 series, the company has revealed how the new mobile SoC differs from the Kirin 9030 Pro. It has mentioned a few comparison points in its latest Tau Law V2 paper.

The head of Huawei Semiconductor Unit, Tingbo He, released the Tau Law version 2 paper today. It details mass production test data and 3D chip design theory.

In addition, the paper compares the upcoming Huawei Kirin 2026 chip and Kirin 9030 Pro. It shows a comparison of power at iso-performance between the two chips.

Kirin 2026 chip will launch this fall. Meanwhile, the company is testing it in all aspects. The V2 paper shows the mass production test of the new processor and further highlights the key changes between the approaching and existing 5G mobile SoCs.

Simply put, the comparison is about the power efficiency of Kirin 2026 and 9030 Pro at the same performance level. According to the Tau Law version 2 paper, the company has evaluated both chipsets under the same temperature level – 25°C.

Despite the same temperature and performance level, Kirin 2026 takes 0.9V voltage – much lower power consumption than the Kirin 9030 Pro with 1.1 V voltage.

The Kirin 2026 clocked at 2.5GHz while the 9030 Pro has a 2.75 GHz frequency. Although the former has used a smaller area, lower power density, and lower energy to operate at the same performance level compared to the latter chip.
