Huawei has seemingly started testing several new batteries ranging from 7000mAh to 10000mAh for its flagship and mid-range phones. And one of these cell packs could show up with the top-tier Mate 90 smartphones coming later this year.
Weibo tipster @SmartPikachu suggested that Huawei is testing many high-density batteries, like a 7000mAh, 8000mAh, and 10000mAh cell for its upcoming phones.
The Chinese OEM is already in rumors for working on a new battery tech that will send its cell capacity over the 10000mAh limit. And we may witness this solution soon.
Notably, the company has used an 8500mAh battery for the Enjoy 90 Pro Max while the Plus model carries a 6620mAh cell pack. On the other hand, the sub-flagship – Nova 16 series is expected to use a 7000mAh battery – a major upgrade over Nova 15.

For comparison, the Nova 15 Ultra and Pro models have a 6500mAh battery. In contrast, the standard version equips a 6000mAh cell coupled with a 100W power adapter.
Now, Huawei is up with more new battery capacities for its upcoming phones. One of them will be a 10000mAh pack, probably for the Enjoy 100 series that may launch by the end of 2026. Some details also suggest that the OEM can use this cell for the Mate 90.
Huawei hasn’t revealed any “upgrade plans” regarding its future flagship or mid-range handsets. Though after major improvements in 5G chipsets, the tech giant has started working on the battery part.
Currently, Honor is the ultimate smartphone brand to feature extraordinary cell packs for its devices. Though it looks like Huawei will soon level up its game in this particular aspect.
