Huawei Kirin 9030 Pro not only has an improved core configuration but also a powerful GPU that boosts computing power by 200%. A recent test showed that the company has used certain advanced components for its 2025 mobile processors.
YouTuber GeekBy noted that the Kirin 9030 Pro chip has obtained practical improvements in terms of GPU. The company has doubled the number of ALU units compared to the previous-generation chipset.
The YouTuber has tested the Kirin 9030 Pro mobile processor under the 3D-Mark’s Steel Nomad Light scheme, where the chipset appeared 76% stronger than 9020. Meanwhile, its energy efficiency curve is quite close to that of the Snapdragon 8+ chips.

GPU is mainly responsible for significantly improving intensive operations. It powers up gaming and high-quality task experience for users without leading to lags. Smoother UI and accelerated photo + video processing are other tasks of the GPU chip.
Kirin 9030 Pro’s MaLiang 935 GPU supports ray tracing technology for the first time. It ensures that heavy-loaded apps or games don’t slow down the phone. It maintains a balance between power consumption control and performance via driver layer optimization.

On the other hand, Huawei has upgraded the NPU unit of the Kirin 9030 Pro to a “1-large + 2-small” architecture. The three-NPU core framework coupled with an enhanced ISP 9.0 solution reduces the baseband area by 31%.
Apart from the GPU power test, the YouTuber mentioned that Huawei has linked the Kirin 9030 Pro with HarmonyOS. As a result, it prevents a very common problem that most Android phones deal with – one-size-fits-all frequency limiting.
Overall, the company has not only upgraded the CPU performance with the 2025 mobile SoCs but also ensured a high-end gaming experience for users. You can check the video below.
