After new smartphones and wearables, Huawei has now begun working on the 2026 MatePad Mini tablet and the latest leak about this device suggests an ultra-narrow bezel screen. The tablet may seemingly undergo major upgrades over the first-gen model.
Weibo tipster @DigitalChatStation stated that he has recently touched and experienced a small tablet from Huawei (MatePad Mini) with an ultra-narrow bezel screen.
The tipster mentioned that the new tablet will bring an extremely slim and elegant design profile this time, with probably the thinnest bezels. At the same time, the company may enhance the display technology for the second-gen MINI tablet.
Further, the device will bring a Kirin 9 series chip. Last year, Huawei used the Kirin 9010 5G mobile processor for the tablet. Based on the tradition, where the company uses a one-year-old SoC for tablets, Huawei might use Kirin 9020 5G this time.
In addition to the display and processor, Huawei will optimize the internal parameters of the new-gen mini tablet. The company may increase battery capacity. For comparison, the previous-gen model has a 6400mAh cell pack.

Adding more, the tipster said that, unlike the first-gen model, the 2026 MatePad Mini will support NFC functionality. Near-Field Communication will allow the tablet to support fast and secure contactless payments, rapid data sharing, and NFC tags.
On the flip side, the NFC support in the 2026 Huawei MatePad Mini tablet will enable users to easily pair up devices and get digital access control for homes and transport.
Apart from these upgrades, other details regarding the new-gen mini tablet are under wraps. Though the company might unveil this creation alongside the Nova 16 series in the second quarter this year.
