Nova 16 series is still some days away from its official launch stage and in the meantime, Huawei has joined the leak section for a new 7-inch quad-curved display phone. Perhaps this could be either the Mate Air iteration or another slim handset creation.
Weibo tipster DigitalChatStation noted that Huawei has a 7-inch quad-curved display phone in the pipeline. Now this is crazy news, as the company is currently busy with the adoption of flat screens for all devices – entry-level to flagship ones.
Phones like the Mate 80 series, Pura 90, and the previous-generation Nova models equip a flat display, suggesting that Huawei has entirely ditched the use of quad-curved panels across all variants.
Huawei did so, prioritizing durability. Flat screens, when combined with the Kunlun Glass, not only improve drop resistance but also reduce glare and prevent accidental screen touches. These displays promise to deliver a better viewing experience.
But it looks like the company can take a U-turn to the quad-curved display this year with a special 7-inch phone – probably the Mate 80 Air. The device is expected to bring a flagship Kirin 9 series chipset on board to offer a dynamic performance boost.
In addition, the device will include a massive camera setup on the back along with an ultra-slim design profile. Even though the tipster hasn’t revealed the device’s name in the leak, it is most likely to be the Huawei Mate 80 Air.
Regarding the launch timeline, the tipster said that the interesting phone will debut in the second half of this year. Huawei already has big launch plans from September to November this year. It would be worth seeing when this Air edition will debut.
