DXOMARK has recently conducted a test on white balance accuracy between the Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro Max camera setups. While both models are the top-class flagship phones in the market, the former just outperformed the latter.
The DXOMARK team recreated a mixed lighting scenario in their lab to compare the Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The differences are as follows:

Mate 80 Pro Max wins this camera battle and outperforms Apple’s flagship in white balance accuracy. All thanks to the second-generation multispectral camera sensor.
White balance accuracy refers to the neutralization of the color temperature in a light source. Simply put, it is a camera setting that adjusts colors in such a way that white objects can remain neutral white irrespective of the super bright lights.
Though it becomes a big issue when mixed lighting comes in between. Phone cameras are usually designed to capture a scenario with a single dominant light source.
But when multiple lighting sources with different color temperatures fall on the subject, the respective camera setting refuses to neutralize colors, leading to unreal colors.

And this is where the Huawei multispectral camera plays wonders for users. It can improve the mobile imaging experience by providing more accurate colors in complex lighting, better skin tones in real-life shots, and consistent results across scenarios.
