Huawei Mate 90 series will take mobile camera photography to a whole new level as the company is reportedly testing two new main cameras for the top-tier flagship. New information has leaked, revealing a few imaging specs of the 2026 Mate phones.
Weibo tipster @SmartPikachu noted that Huawei is evaluating two new main cameras for the Mate 90 series – a 1-inch ultra-large 50MP lens and a 200MP cam sensor.
Unlike the Huawei Pura 90 series, which has a 200MP sensor for the high-end PRO MAX, the company may have different strategies for the Mate 90 series models.
According to the leaked details, Huawei could use a brand-new 50MP lens for the Mate 90 Pro Max and RS Ultimate Design with superior imaging quality, natural color tones, sophisticated lighting features, and high-res video shooting capabilities.
Meanwhile, the 200MP primary imaging sensor could be the same seeded in the Pura 90 Pro Max and may show up with the Mate 90 and Pro handsets, delivering a top-notch imaging experience to consumers in every aspect.
This camera sensor implementation in the Mate 90 series will make both – the premium and base models a perfect creation for all types of consumers in the market.
Over the years, Huawei has significantly improved the mobile imaging system for its entire smartphone lineup – whether it’s the entry-level Enjoy handsets, Nova devices, or the Pura and Mate flagship models. The best example in this case is Pura 90.
Huawei Pura 90 series not only brings new camera and photo-editing features to the tablet but is also the first lineup in the family to sport a 200MP camera coupled with a multispectral sensor.
As of now, the company aims for even more advanced camera technologies with the Mate 90 series. And the changes are really worth looking forward to. Stay tuned!
